growing so fast!

It's so hard to believe it's already September!
Kenadi is already nine months old and is crawling all over the place!  We have upgraded to four teeth (from two).  She hates baby food, but still loves her bottle.  After spending all summer with Aunt Lindsay, Mrs. Marci took over. We have been so blessed to have such amazing babysitters! Marci is so great with her...she takes her to lunch, on play dates, to the library, etc.

We are all so excited about football season.  Fall weekends are the best!  I'll try to be better about updates this fall than I was all summer.

Update for May :)

A lot has happened since our last post.  We spent KG's first Easter with my family (minus Lindsay who was still at school in Grenada).   I had the entire weekend of mother's day off and it was wonderful!!  We slipped out for a movie, then spent the day at our house with my mom, Jared, Cody, and Tomileigh.
According to my mom's scale at her clinic, KG weighs about 18 pounds (double her birth weight). She rolls over now, and tries to crawl...but doesn't get anywhere.  She's eating carrots and sweet potatoes...even though most of it ends up on her face and clothes.  We're still working on eating from a spoon.  We noticed her first tooth this past weekend!!  She loves to go for walks/jogs in the BOB.
Troy is busy with work and getting ready for his trip to Washington/Canada.  I'm only a month and a week away from the end of my intern year!  It has gone by so incredibly fast!

April...

I obviously haven't thought about blogging in quite a while.  I just noticed that I haven't posted since March...and its already almost the end of April!  Days just seem to fly by.
Kenadi had her fourth month appointment and shots earlier in the month.  She weighed in at a whopping 15+lbs (75-90%ile) and is in the 95% for her height. She is doing a great job of holding her head up, rolling over, and making new noises.  She does NOT like rice cereal.  Every time we try to feed it to her with a spoon she looks at me like I'm crazy for ever thinking she would eat something that tasted so bad....so we just give it to her in her bottle and water it down a little bit.  Our wonderful babysitter is leaving us, so we're looking for someone new...but we'll probably have to do daycare until we find someone.  The thought of her being in daycare puts knots in my stomach.  It has been such a blessing to have such a great friend taking care of Kenadi for the past 2.5 months and I've totally taken it for granted.

Troy has been busy with work.  He's busy training for a half marathon in June.  Its great encouragement for me as I try to slowly get back in shape...my goal is to run another half in November.  Maybe as a second year I'll have a little more time to train.  Intern year has been great, but I'm ready to have more than 1 weekend of every month.  :)

March has been a busy month for the Smith family!  We have really enjoyed the longer days...Kenadi and I usually go for runs/walks in the afternoon when the weather is nice. She loves going for rides in the Bob.  Troy has been really busy at work, but managed to ride in his first bike race in Salado this weekend.  It was pretty cold and SUPER windy...but he and John, one of his buddies from work, finished the ride.  Now he's training for a trail half marathon in Washington in June.  I've never seen him this excited about running...but it could be the fact that they're going mountain biking in Whistler, Canada, for a few days after the race.

Kenadi is great.  She is so much fun!  Its so hard to believe she is almost 4 months old.  Shewill  roll over to one side, but won't completely roll over because she hates being on her tummy so much.  She likes to "talk" while she chews on her fingers, which must taste so much better than her binky...  She sleeps pretty well most nights, only waking up once to get an early morning snack before snoozing until 7 or so with dad.

our monthly update...

                           hanging out with uncle jarebear
brooke came to visit...kenadi loved talking to her :)

spending some time with grandpa and uncle cody

Kenadi has grown so much in just one month.  She's already holding her head up when we put her in her Bumbo seat...but she gets tired pretty quickly.  She makes all kind of new noises and loves to "talk."  We've moved on to size 2 diapers, and had to go shopping last month for bigger clothes.  Cody came home for the weekend early in February and he'll be back to do some babysitting over spring break. Brooke came to visit for a day last weekend and spent the morning babysitting while I took a nap (thank you Brooke!) after working all night.

I finished my month of night float so I'm back to being awake during the day...which is awesome!  I learned a lot last month and even got to help deliver quadruplets (!) but I'm really glad its over.

2 months old!

I know I've fallen behind in posting.  I'm working the night shift all month, so I pretty much just go to work, come home and fall asleep, wake up to play with Kenadi for a couple hours, then go back to work.
Today was Kenadi's 2 month appointment.  She now weighs 13 pounds, 6 ounces and is almost 24 inches long!  She got her first immunizations today, too...it turns out she's not a big fan of shots. I'll post new pictures when I have more time.

Just for Uncle Cody

Hanging out, sporting a fun cap given to her by her cool Uncle Cody :)

I had my first 24 hour call shift since Kenadi was born...she survived being left with dad (with a little help from Grandma Quirk)...and even made a trip up to the hospital to visit me!
